KENYA: Video of Man Assaulting His Wife Leads To His Prosecution

Kenyan Daudi Nzomo, captured on camera beating and kicking his wife in Kyaaka village, Kitonyini sub-location, Makueni County has been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment by Makueni law courts.

The Magistrate James Mwaniki ruled that Nzomo would serve 10 years in prison and the remaining two under probation after he pleaded guilty to the charge of grievous bodily harm.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to look for Nzomo and have him arraigned in court after a video of Nzomo’s assault on his wife went viral on social media causing outrage.

Nzomo’s wife who is currently at Nairobi Women’s Hospital for treatment has vowed to divorce him.
